Black Distressed Bookshelf

I just finished this charming bookshelf. It has been painted black and distressed to show some red tones and the natural wood. It has also been protected for everyday use. This shelf would be perfect for books or for electronics under a wall mounted flat screen TV.
The bookshelf measures: 46"x11.5"x37" (l,d,h)

Only $110.

Black Antique Washstand Dresser

This dresser required a major overhaul. It was a beautiful antique washstand dresser covered in bird's eye maple veneer that had severe damage to the top surface's veneer. I decided to remove the destroyed layer of veneer and replace it with a more affordable wood when I found out that a sheet of maple veneer was $350! I painted the dresser a classy black and added amber glass knobs with brass accents to match the antique skeleton key holes. I love this piece! It would look great in any room in the house.
The dresser measures: 40"x22"x27" (l,d,h).

Only $200.

Best Bet Carpet Systems

I know this has nothing to do with furniture; however, I wanted to recommend Best Bet Carpet Systems in the Salt Lake City area. I had Joe stop by a few weeks ago to clean our traffic areas and he did such a wonderful job. Not only did my carpet look brand new, but he managed to get my paint stains out of the carpet! That's right - I had stepped in black paint back in May (working on a dresser) and thought it would never come out. Joe explained to me that I should never use store-bought carpet cleaner and that I should use his pH balanced carpet cleaner (I had wrecked our carpet with the store bought stuff). I sort of thought he was just trying to sell me something and dismissed his comments but a few days later I found that he had dropped off a new bottle of cleaner on my front porch. You should really give this guy a call if you need to have a problem spot removed. He is extremely friendly and does amazing work.

Black Distressed Dresser - Not For Sale

I visited my husband's family this weekend and his mother asked me to redo a dresser for her. This dresser had been painted at least three different times and was also used as my husband's baby changing table years ago. I loved getting the chance to work on such a special piece. His mom wanted a black dresser distressed with a hint of clay showing through. She also chose the absolute perfect knobs to go with her two color choices. Time did not allow for us to put a protective layer on it, but they will be doing that next week. Once the protection is applied, the areas that were distressed regain the satin finish of the surrounding unaltered areas. We had a wonderful time working on this piece and we think it turned out great!

Secretary Dresser - Not For Sale

I have completely redone this dated 70's secretary dresser and turned it into a classy piece for a client. This dresser has been painted black and all the pulls have been replaced from shiny brass to lovely antique brass. I also added an antique brass drop knob on the drop down shelf. This will definitely make a beautiful and functional addition to my clients' entryway!

Wow! It has been almost two months since my last post. The holiday season was busy for personal reasons, but I am back from a trip overseas and have a few things I will be working on over the next month. I am almost finished with an antique washstand dresser and it is looking great! I will be working on a unique bookshelf and a dining room set over the next month. I am sure it gets frustrating to see furniture that is not for sale, but I want you to see examples of my work that isn't put up for sale. Also, if you have anything that you would like redone then please feel free to email me. Happy New Year!

Black Dining Room Set - Not For Sale

I recently finished this dining room for a very eager client [myself]. This was definitely one of my most challenging projects but I think it turned out amazing! I was thrilled to discover that this piece was sold somewhere between 1916-1940. As I was removing the re-upholstery, I found beautiful black leather seat cushions in perfect condition. Let me just say the client was very pleased! :o)

Not for sale.

The holiday season will definitely be light at B's Refurnishings; however, I will be working on finishing a dresser/desk and possibly another dining room set before the end of the year. I also have the Roll Top Desk and the German Rocking/Glider Horse available. Please let me know if you have any questions. Happy Thanksgiving!

Antique Writing Desk (Commissioned)

Remember THIS piece? Someone emailed me a few weeks ago when they noticed that 1) the teal desk was sold & 2) I had an antique writing desk on my "coming soon" post. She requested that I do the antique writing desk similar to the vintage double pedestal desk. This particular piece is an antique from the McCall, ID school district and is thought to be an old accountant's desk. It has a hole in the right corner that was originally used for ink. I wanted to modernize the desk so I found the perfect size vase for either flowers or pencils. I am in love with the outcome!

~SOLD

**If you are interested in future pieces I mention in the "coming soon" posts or have a piece of your own furniture that you would like painted then I would love to see if I could help! Send me an email with a picture of the piece and we can go from there.
